I’ve been asked more than a few times to describe my aesthetic. People are naturally curious to know whether I paint portraits, figurative art, still life etc.
My response is always the same… It all begins with an idea.
I’m an emotionally expressive thinker, who is constantly connecting abstract ideas in my mind. I search for the deeper meaning and universal truth behind things. My art is an expression of some of these ideas.
After completing two paintings in my early 20’s, which I deemed failures, I decided art wasn’t for me. Fortunately, I’ve gained more patience in the proceeding 20 years since then. So four years ago, I decided to pick up a brush again.
Since then I’ve been squeezing in time to paint around my busy life, which includes working (almost) full time, parenting two amazing children and sharing in volunteer work that supports people in my community to learn about the beautiful hope contained in the Bible.
I am also a runner, a writer, and I’m passionate about taking care of our planet and the animals that we share it with.
Like most artists, I often doubt my work is ‘good enough’. At these times, I remind myself of what I tell others “art has no rules”.
Thank you for your interest in my art. I sincerely hope it speaks to you in some way.
