Only Happy When It Rains

The title of this painting was taken from the 1995 song release of the same name by the band Garbage.

While seeming to be present, the subject is staring off into the distance, clearly lost in thought. Just as the the song lyrics suggests “pour your misery down”. The piece is a commentary on the way we sometimes go through life, repeating the same painful experiences.

The painting was completed using a limited palette. Its moody and dark, but full of feeling.
