Delirium

This piece was painted during the elongated lockdown of greater Melbourne, Australia in winter of 2020. In an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, residents were unable to leave home without authorised purpose for a period of 14 weeks.

The painting aims to capture the desperation of many to escape a growing sense of delirium. The Kanji symbol of “insanity” on the subjects shirt, speaks to the ‘critical’ and ‘hard to deal’ with times we are living in.

This painting represents only a small part of the global suffering experienced as a result of the pandemic.
