Adamantine

Painting a vase of flowers is almost a rite of passage for many painters. In this version the vase is broken, but the flowers are not. And that’s the point.

The beauty of the flowers is not defined by the vase, nor are they diminished by its damage. This thought that came to mind while I was listening to a friend share a painful experience. Understandably, they had lost a sense of objectivity and perspective about themselves and their situation.

I felt this deeply, perhaps because at times we have all felt a little broken. (RL)
