Looking Back

“It’s not the changes that will break your heart: it’s the tug of familiarity” (Jennifer E Smith, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight)

It seems that when we are at the cusp of moving forward in life, perhaps making a major change, or taking those first daunting steps towards achieving our dream, that we feel the uncomfortable stab of sentimentality.

This painting captures that momentary pause, where we look back and reflect on the path we have walked to this point.

Oil on Board, 40x30cm
