‘The wilderness and the parched land will exult, And the desert plain will be joyful and blossom with Saffron... At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. At that time the lame will leap like the dear, And the tongue of the speechless will shout for joy. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert plain.’ (Isaiah 1, 5-6)
This beautiful passage, taken from the Bible, is the inspiration behind this painting. The promise of transformation back to the creator’s original purpose, is likened to the desert blooming with health and beauty.
Aside from the obvious environmental damage that has overtaken much of the middle east which was once known for its lush forests and fertile savannah’s, the Prophet Isaiah was speaking of the figurative desert that is humanities lack of appreciation for spiritual things.
The fulfilment of this promise offers real hope to those who are weighed down by the problems we encounter. For more about this read: Real Hope for Tomorrow
